Update

After a nice weekend away I have returned full of enthusiasm and ideas.

So far I have organised two pretty successful Pure Acoustica events.

There may have been a few wrinkles and they may not have been perfect BUT: All the acts turned up, they all sounded great, the audience were appreciative and keen to hear more.

It could all have gone horribly wrong. Before the gigs I had only met a handful of the artists, having only heard MP3s online. I hadn't actually spoken to most of you, just texts and emails.

Ensuring that the audience is in the best possible environment to appreciate what we do is one of the things I want to improve as well as matching artists to venues.

From late July to early September, I will be devoting a lot of time and effort into developing Pure Acoustica.

The website will be totally to developed to include things such as Home Concerts, Private Parties, Weddings and possibly some corporate work.

I'm aiming at at least one of each per year, Pure Acoustica won't fit every event and I'm not thinking about mass appeal or watering down the edginess  of what we do.

I'm going to develop the niche factor of Pure Acoustica and also promote the environmental aspects of Pure Acoustica events.

My pod-casts include at least 2 tracks from Pure Acoustica artists and are becoming more and more popular with 1944 downloads to date. That's an average of 176 per episode.

Please keep sending me tracks to include plus if you fancy coming over for an interview that would be great.

I do need you to keep your reverbnation profile up to date, especially your shows as I use that information when booking other events. Also there are Pure Acoustica widgets with that information all over the place, so others can also check out what you are doing.

There are more developments in the pipeline but I don't want to swamp you with info.

Xan Phillips and some other stuff

Hi and well done to everyone that played on Saturday. I think everyone had a good time. I know I did and so did the audience.
New business, Xan Phillips him that used to run the unsigned show on no w defunked Southampton radio station Original 106, is running an "Acoustic Showcase" night at The Soul Cellar in Southampton every Monday night. He is championing independent artists like ourselves and plays tracks from local artists every week.
I have sent him the Pure Acoustica sampler cd as well as one of mine.
I'm hoping that we may be able to do a showcase there one night.
I would urge you to send him a cd of your good selves to

Xan PhillipsShowcase UKPO Box 434SouthamptonSO31 0AS

There is also a Facbook group for it here http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=33650800046 if you do that kind of thing.

It would also be an idea to pop in there one Monday and introduce yourself to Xan (pronounced ZAN).
I know him a little as he used to play my stuff on his radio show and I did a live session as well.

Wise Children (new Pure Acoustic types) have a showcase there soon and I hope to get along as they are pretty fantastic.

I'd also suggest that you yourselves might want to approach Xan about a non Pure Acoustica, and therefore an electric/acoustic, showcase.

I have also just finished a new pod-cast featuring the music of Julia K, Wise Children, Matt Blake and myself.

I think it's quite good but can't remember much as I was a little drunk at the time!

I mention Pure Acoustica quite a bit (as I can just about recall) and talk/rant about how most acoustic gigs aren't

You can find the links to it on my blog http://nicktann.blogspot.com/

I have plans for more Pure Acoustica events and will keep you posted as and when.

Winchester MayFest Final update

I now have a nice collection of Pure Acoustica flyers and promo cds and have emailed my reverbnation fans telling them about the day. I will be at there at The Discovery Centre from around 1:45. The joy of Pure Acoustica events is that there is nothing to set up! I will be there for the duration and will be recording parts, including interviews, for a special Pure Acoustica pod-cast. I will also be taking photograps.

If you are not going to arrive at least 30 minutes before your spot or have any other problems or questions, then please TEXT me on 07812150809 and let me know. DO NOT CALL ME.

After 5pm I plan to wander around finding folk to play with. There is an open session at The Eclipse running all afternoon so I will probably head there. They also have good ale!!

If you are in the area tonight (Friday) check out Matt Blake, he's playing at the Bakers Arms in Winchester form 9pm. He'll also be playing as part of Pure Acoustica tomorrow.
For those who haven't met me, this is what I look like. I'm 6 foot 2 and will be pretty hard to miss as I will be wearing a most splendid shirt!!

Pure Acoustica @ Winchester Mayfest Update.

Went and had a quick look around on Saturday and the place looks perfect. I want to have a chat with the manager this week just to make sure that they're expecting us and will have a nice space ready.

I managed to make some posters and have left them with them but will take over more later this week.

I also had a chat with Nick from the Coffee House across the road who will give you a free cup of coffee if you go and play a tune or two.

It's a nice shop and they do great coffee. Also he is looking to put on some music in the future so it would be an idea to go over and say hi and stuff. He plays a resonator so he's on our wavelength.
Should be one more update this before Saturday.

Friday Update

Hi,

thought I'd give a short update.

Wise Children are now amongst us. A fantastic melodic and imaginative trio from Hampshire. Hope to see them try the Pure Acoustica very soon.

I'm also in the process of persuading
Carly Smallman to team up with her friend for whom I made this video to come and be funny with us.

I have dates from most of you regarding the big meet up at The Art House. I will be speaking to them next week and will try and get some available dates. As soon as I know I'll let you all know.

Matt Blake will be joining me at The Havana bar next Wednesday for some acoustic fun.

If you have any gigs, put them up on your reverbnation page as they show up in the Pure Acoustica page as well as widgets
as you can see here

I'm also after non muso types i.e. poets, story tellers, comedians whatever so if you know of anyone who might be good for Pure Acoustica then please let me know.

If you know of other muso types or if you get enquiries about joining Pure Acoustica then please let me know. Please DON'T give people my email address and get them to contact me, If you let me know then I can listen to their stuff and if I think they're suitable I'll contact them.

Although, saying that,
my next podcast will be wholly about Pure Acoustica. It would be great if those of you that have played with Pure Acoustica could make some comments on the blog that I could quote in the pod-cast

Is anyone using Spotify yet? If you are and fancy collaberating on a Pure Acoustica playlist then let me know also if you are on
Twitter then feel free to add me

There are many things afoot for the future but these things take time, I'll keep you posted.

The video is a collaberation I did with
Watch With Mothers Swineshead
